Examining the Influence of Artificial Intelligence (AI) Adoption on Operational Decision-Making
Dereje Ferede, Solomon Negash
Decision-Making, a crucial component of human-centered business, is undergoing a paradigm shift because of a broad adoption of artificial intelligence (AI). AI’s integration into decision-making opens new options, raises key questions, and challenges traditional methods. While research on AI’s effects on organizational dynamics has grown, significant gaps remain, particularly regarding AI's impact on operational decision-making across different contexts, including the Global South. Closing this gap is vital for understanding AI’s influence on operational decision-making. Furthermore, as AI technologies evolve and become more integrated into organizations, studying their effects on operational decision-making is crucial for organizations to navigate challenges and leverage benefits. This study, grounded in input-process-output and dynamic capability theories, adopts a mixed-method approach to offer insights and recommendations for both practice, policy, and theory.
