Interactive Learning with ChatGPT: An Exploratory Study
Xiaoqing Li, Xiaodong Deng, Yi Guo
Abstract
Due to limited time and capacity in the classroom, professors and students face challenges in successfully implementing an engaged and productive discussion. ChatGPT has excellent potential in education to improve and enhance students' learning performance. In this study, we investigate the impact of using ChatGPT to facilitate two common teaching and learning methodologies of experiential learning: group discussion and teamwork. Through introducing two personas using ChatGPT, this study investigates how ChatGPT helps enhance class discussion and teamwork. As a pilot study, our findings indicate the positive impact of using ChatGPT to facilitate teamwork, learning, motivation, and the continuous intention to use. The proposed model laid a systematic framework for applying ChatGPT in higher education.
